Manager/Coach Code of Conduct
I hereby pledge to live up to my endorsement as a Deer Valley Little League manager/coach by following the Little League International rules, the DVLL Bi-Laws and abiding by the Coach's Code of Conduct:
- I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my players ahead of a personal desire to win.
- I will treat each player as an individual, remembering the large range of emotional and physical development for the same age group.
- I will do my best to provide a safe playing environment for my players.
- I will review and practice basic first aid principles needed to treat injuries of my players.
- I will do my best to organize practices that are fun and challenging for all my players.
- I will lead by example in demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship to all my players.
- I will not cheat or engage in any form of unethical behavior that violates league rules.
- I will provide a sports environment for my team that is free of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol.
- I will be knowledgeable in the rules of each division that I coach, and I will teach these rules to my players.
- I will use coaching techniques appropriate for the skills that I teach.
- I will remember that I am a youth sports coach, and that the game is for children and not adults.
- I will not be guilty of mingling with or fraternizing with spectators during the course of the game.
- I will not be guilty of tampering or manipulation of any league rosters, schedules, draft positions or selections, official score books, rankings, financial records or procedures.
- I will learn the rules of the game and the policies of the league.
- I will not gamble upon any play or outcome of any game with anyone at any time.
- I will never ridicule or yell at my child or other participants for making a mistake or losing a competition.
- I agree to never use abusive or profane language
- I agree to appropriately question an umpire’s call and will never behave in a manner that would “show up” or disrespect any and all calls made by an umpire.
- I will remain inside the dugout during defensive innings and offensive innings unless coaching a base
- I agree to file, in writing to the League Board of Directors complaints regarding: violation of rules, questionable conduct such as abusive behavior by a player, coach or fan and irreconcilable personality conflicts at [email protected]
- I will inform the player agent of any situation or player that may affect the safety of my players or the safety of others.
- I will be responsible for my team’s trash and will help by doing my part to keep the complex clean and litter free.
Any manager/coach guilty of improper conduct at any game or practice will be asked to leave the baseball facility and be suspended from the following game. Repeat violations may cause a multiple game suspension, or the season forfeiture and the privilege of attending all games and managing/coaching an All Star team.
